
The following awards will be presented during the Congress:
- EAP Young Investigator Award
- ESPR Young Investigators Award
- ESPNIC Young Investigators Award
- ESPR Bengt Robertson Award for Research Concerning the Neonatal Lung
- ESPNIC Nursing Awards
PLEASE NOTE: Should you wish to be considered for one of the awards, please ensure that you tick the dedicated box in the abstract submission form and upload the relevant documents. One award may be applied per abstract.
Applicants must have an abstract accepted by the Scientific Committee in order to be considered for one of the awards above. Abstract acceptance and award decisions will be made in parallel so applications need to be made before the deadline of April 6 2020.
EAP Young Investigator Award
Up to one prize will be awarded at the discretion of the committee, following onsite presentations and the decisions made are final. Winners will be announced during the Congress Closing Ceremony, and will be presented with a certificate confirming their prize.
Requirements:
- Must be an EAP member.
- Must be < 35 years of age. Clear copy of ID indicating date of birth is to be submitted.
- CV is to be submitted.
- Content of the abstract must represent original work and not presented/or published previously.
- The name of the presenting author MUST match the name of the applicant.
- Requests that do not conform to above terms will automatically be declined.
- Selected finalists to be informed in advance and must confirm their attendance to the Congress.
Judgment criteria will be based on:
- Scientific content
- Structure of the abstract
- Presentation
- Ability to defend the paper/results during question time from the audience onsite during the Congress
Prize: EUR 1,500
ESPR Young Investigator Awards
Requirements:
- Applicants must be ESPR members or intending to become members;
- Applicants must be under 36 years of age. A copy of your ID indicating the date of birth is to be submitted along with the CV (one page);
- The content of the abstract must represent original work and cannot be presented and/or published previously.
- The name of the presenting author MUST match the name of the applicant.
Selected finalists will be informed in advance and have to confirm their attendance of the congress.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Scientific content
- Structure of the abstract
- Presentation skills
- Ability to defend the paper/results during question time from the audience onsite during the session
Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the committee following onsite presentations. The decisions made are final. Winners will be announced during the EAPS 2020 closing ceremony and will be presented with a certificate.
Prizes:
- 1st prize: EUR 1000; complimentary registration and free travel to the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Annual Meeting 2021 in Vancouver, Canada.
- 2nd prize: EUR 1000; complimentary registration to the 2021 ESPR Annual Meeting: the 4th joint European Neonatal Societies’ Congress (jENS 2021) in Athens, Greece.
ESPNIC Young Investigators Award
Up to two prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the committee, following onsite presentations and the decisions made are final. Winners will be announced during the Congress Closing Ceremony, and will be presented with a certificate confirming their prize.

- Must be an ESPNIC member.
- Must be < 35 years of age. Clear copy of ID indicating date of birth is to be submitted.

- First Prize: EUR 1000 Award, complimentary registration and free travel to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting (up to 500 EUR), one year complimentary membership
- Second Prize: EUR 700 Award, one year complimentary membership, complimentary registration to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting
ESPR Bengt Robertson Award
Requirements:
- Abstracts must be on research concerning the neonatal lung
- The content of the abstract must be original work
- Applicants must be ESPR members or intending to become members
- Presenting authors must be under 36 years of age. A copy of your ID indicating the date of birth is to be submitted along with the CV (onepage)
- A letter from an ESPR member supporting the application is required
- The name of the presenting author MUST match the name of the applicant
The awardee will be informed in advance and has to confirm his/her attendance of the congress.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Scientific content
- Structure of the abstract
Prize:
- EUR 3,000; complimentary registration to the next ESPR Annual Meeting including accommodation and coverage of travel expenses.
The winner will present their abstract during the designated Bengt Robertson Award session, and will receive a certificate confirming his/her prize.
ESPNIC Nursing Awards (Oral Presentation)
Up to two prizes, (one for PICU and one for NICU) will be awarded at the discretion of the committee, following onsite presentations and the decisions made are final. Winners will be announced during the Congress Closing Ceremony, and will be presented with a certificate confirming their prize.
Judgment criteria will be based on:

- Structure of the abstract
- Presentation
- Ability to defend the paper/results during the question time from the audience during onsite presentation
Prizes:
- EUR 1000 Award, complimentary registration and travel expenses covered up to 500 EUR to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting, one year complimentary nursing membership.

ESPNIC Nursing Award (E-poster Discussion Presentation)
Up to two prizes, (one for PICU and one for NICU) will be awarded at the discretion of the committee, following onsite presentations and the decisions made are final. Winners will be announced during the Congress Closing Ceremony, and will be presented with a certificate confirming their prize.
